Learning to Trust Adults Again

Trusting adults used to feel impossible. I was scared they’d be angry, disappointed, or think I was being dramatic. For a long time, I kept everything inside because I didn’t think anyone would understand.

But when everything got really bad, it was adults — doctors, counselors, my parents — who helped save my life.

Trust didn’t come back all at once. It came slowly:

  • With honest conversations.

  • With adults who listened instead of judging.

  • With teachers who checked in quietly after class.

  • With my counselor showing me that my feelings actually mattered.

  • With my parents learning how to support instead of pressure me.

Little by little, I realized not all adults want to control me — some genuinely want to help me grow, heal, and stay safe.

And that changed everything.
